Performance Inspired Challenges You to Make Changes for a Healthy September

Healthy Sept Challenge

The summer has flown by, and it’s already September—a month with lots to celebrate! Among other things, September is both Better Breakfast Month and Self-Improvement Month. In order to get the month started off well, we wanted to combine ideas for both because, after all, if you start your day off in a healthy manner, you’re well on your way to improving yourself.

It’s no secret that breakfast is the meal most often skipped by people, especially those in a hurry. And while it may be difficult to eat something before work or before an early meeting, having something nutritious to eat at least by midmorning will help curb hunger later in the day, will keep you from reaching for an easy (and unhealthy) snack, and will keep you from binging when you do finally eat.

Challenge 1: Eat a better breakfast

Our first challenge is to check out Performance Inspired’s recipe page. It’s full of amazingly delicious and easy recipes for breakfast foods that you can make ahead of time and take to work (or anywhere!) with you. These awesome recipes include fruit smoothies, protein pancakes, acai bowls, muffins, and more.

Adding protein to your day will also boost your health. An easy way to get protein in the morning is with PI’s whey or protein powders. And we have several to choose from, including Performance Whey Protein, Diet & Energy Ripped Whey Protein, Isolate Whey, and even a Plant-Based Protein for those who don’t want or cannot have whey. All come in delicious flavors that you can easily add your favorite fruit to for an added health benefit.

So now that you’ve started off your day, let’s look at some other great ways you can celebrate Self-Improvement Month. While there’s a lot you can do for yourself mentally and even spiritually, we want to focus on how you can improve your physical self.

Good nutrition and exercise are key.

Challenge 2: Boost your nutrition

You likely have heard talk about greens powders—a mix of ingredients such as spirulina, spinach, kale, broccoli, and more. You simply mix the powder with water. While nothing is as nutritious as fresh fruits and vegetables, adding a green powder to your diet—especially if you don’t eat many vegetables—offers numerous benefits. And Performance Inspired has a delicious one! Our Greens for Life is a powerful blend of organic greens, organic mushrooms, an organic antioxidant blend, and BioCore probiotics. Together, these ingredients:

  • help improve digestion
  • boost immunity
  • increase energy
  • promote longevity
  • balance hormones
  • aid in cognitive functioning
  • promote weight loss
  • reduce inflammation throughout the body
  • enhance mental clarity
  • promote heart health
  • improve skin

Simply mix with water and drink. For better absorption, drink on an empty stomach.

If you don’t like drinking your greens, replace one snack a day with either a fruit or vegetable. And try cutting out white breads and pastas, sugar, and other unhealthy treats.

Challenge 3: Add more exercise into your day

Exercise has more benefits than we can count. From improved physical health, to improved mental health, to helping in the fight against diseases, exercise is crucial to longevity and to feeling great. Adding 30-60 minutes of exercise into your days will help you reap these benefits. Hitting the gym, going for a jog, swimming several laps, or riding your bike is optimal. But breaking that exercise into shorter periods works as well; you don’t have to exercise for that one chunk of time all at once.

Easy ways to exercise 10-15 minutes at a time include getting up from your desk or the couch and walking around, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, or walking around your block a couple times a day. Other possibilities include purchasing a recumbent bike and riding while reading a book.

You could also buy some exercise equipment for your home. Kettlebells, jump ropes, free weights, and exercise bands can be used anywhere. And simple exercises like squats, jumping jacks, running in place, pushups, and more can be done without any equipment. The point is to get your heart pumping and your blood flowing.

So now that you have these great ideas in mind, will you take the September Performance Inspired challenge to improve your health and well-being? We hope so! Then let us know how you are doing!
