Parenthood comes with countless surprises. When you’re balancing a career, children, and time for yourself, life can be a three-ring circus, and it’s hard to find parent workout time or go to the gym. The last thing you want to do after working or tending to your adorable children all day is work out. Yet, you want to stay healthy so you can be around for your children as they grow. So, how do you make time for the gym? Follow these parent workout time tips and tricks below, and before you know it, you’ll be living a happier, healthier lifestyle.
Tip 1: Make working out a priority
Your health is of vital importance. You know this. Now make the decision to prioritize it—and consider it something that’s non-negotiable.
Tip 2: Work out with your kiddos
If your kids are 12 and under, it is very easy to “work out” with them in fun ways. Visit our blog “Working Out with Family” to learn enjoyable ways to work out with your kids!
Tip 3: Walk at practice
If your kids play sports, take advantage of practice times! Instead of dropping your child off at practice and chatting with the other parents in the bleachers, walk! Walking while your child is at practice is a great way to drop a few pounds. Have the other parents join you in walking, so you can chat AND stay fit. Your weight and how fast you walk determine how many calories you will burn. For example, if you walk at 2.5 speed and you are 180 pounds, you will burn roughly 96 calories.
Tip 4: Work out at work
Working out at work is a great way to stay fit. During lunch, instead of eating, go for a walk. Then eat at your desk later. There are many other ways you can work out at your office. Please visit our “4 Ways to Stay Fit at the Office” blog for those tips.
