It’s the third week of March, and you are still going strong on your New Year’s resolution. However, you’re noticing it’s getting harder and harder to stay motivated to keep going. That’s why we are here— to help you stay inspired! Follow these tricks and you’ll keep plugging away at your New Year’s resolution with ease.
TRICK 1 – SET ALARMS
Setting alarms to remind you to walk or make your protein shake offers a good chance of causing a behavior change. If you allocate time in your busy schedule for the activity and include a reminder, you are more likely to do it.
For example, if your goal is to get 10,000 steps in a day, set an alarm every half hour to get up and walk. Get one step ahead with a step counter!
TRICK 2 – SIGN UP FOR A CHALLENGE
If you sign up to do a fun run or other challenge, and you part with some hard-earned cash to participate, you’re not going to want to waste that money. There are tons of apps out there that will pay you to be fit or, better yet, return your investment once you reach your goal.
Signing up for a 5K with your hard-earned cash is a great idea because most 5K races benefit a charity of some sort. This means you are training for a good cause! Just be sure you are looking for events 6-8 weeks out so you have enough time to train without losing motivation.
TRICK 3 – TAKE A DAY OFF – SAY WHAT?!?!
It’s important to realize that those days when you’re lacking motivation and energy are completely normal, and it’s okay to take a day off. Such days can help you recharge and regain your motivation and energy. Give yourself permission to have these days on occasion without feeling guilty, and you’ll instantly feel more energized afterward.
TRICK 4 – SET GOALS WITH MILESTONES
Don’t say, “I’m losing 20 pounds by 2020” and then be disappointed when 2020 comes and you haven’t lost a pound. Instead, set a milestone such as: I’m losing 5 pounds by February 28.” Then, on February 28, say, “I’m losing 2 more pounds by March 15.” If you keep doing this, by 2020 those 20 pounds will be gone!
TRICK 5 – REWARD YOURSELF
As you achieve small goals in your New Year’s resolution, make sure you reward yourself. For example, say, “When I lose my first five pounds, I’m going to go buy some PI clothing.” By rewarding yourself for each goal you accomplish, you’ll be more likely to succeed!
Now that you’ve read the tips, you are in a great position to consider the best ways to improve your life in 2019.
