July 26 is National Coffee Milkshake Day! That means it’s milkshake time! Of course, it doesn’t have to be a holiday or even summertime to enjoy a delicious milkshake, but many people think they just taste better on a hot day. Milkshakes are refreshing, and they can help cool you down and even make you feel like a kid again!

At Performance Inspired, we love milkshakes. This year, we have created some milkshake recipes with a twist. Not only do the recipes below appeal to the coffee lover in you, but they are packed with protein. All of these require just a few ingredients, including one of our awesome protein powders, and are incredibly easy to make. Each recipe will make one very large milkshake or two small ones. Simply adjust the ingredient portions if you are making them for several people.

We offer several varieties of protein powder that are perfect for these milkshakes. Choose which suits your needs best:

  • Our Diet & Energy Ripped Whey comes in dark chocolate and mocha flavors (it also comes in vanilla, but we recommend either the chocolate or mocha for these recipes). It has 25 grams of protein plus 500mg of L-carnitine, 4g of leucine, 150mg of choline bitartrate, and 85 mg of caffeine from natural green tea.

  • Our Performance Whey Protein comes in four flavors, one of which is chocolate. It contains 25 grams of protein plus digestive enzymes and 5g of fiber.

  • Our Isolate Whey comes in a tasty chocolate flavor (and others) and contains 25 grams of protein. Plus it contains 3g of L-glutamine (not included in the 25g protein count) and 5.5 grams of naturally occurring BCAAs.

Any of these will be a great addition to your milkshake. Try one or try them all!

PI’s Protein Coffee Milkshake with Coffee Ice Cream

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups of coffee ice cream
  • 1 scoop PI protein powder (your choice of chocolate or mocha)
  • 1/4 cup of milk

Add all ingredients to a blender and mix to your desired consistency. To thicken, add more ice cream. Enjoy!

PI’s Protein Coffee Milkshake with Coconut Milk Ice Cream

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups of coconut ice cream (vanilla flavored)
  • ½ cup cold coffee or iced coffee
  • 1 scoop of PI protein powder (your choice of chocolate or mocha)
  • 1/4 cup milk

Add all ingredients to a blender and mix to your desired consistency. To thicken, add more ice cream. Enjoy!

PI’s Decadent Protein Coffee Milkshake

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups of coffee ice cream
  • 1 scoop PI protein powder (your choice of chocolate or mocha)
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 Tbsp dark chocolate syrup
  • 1/2 bar of dark chocolate (approximately 1.75 ounces)
  • ½ tsp espresso powder

Add ice cream, protein powder, milk, syrup, and espresso powder to a blender and mix to your desired consistency. To thicken, add more ice cream. Use a cheese grater to finely grate your chocolate bar. Add the shavings to the milkshake mixture and blend again or simply stir them in after you add the mixture to your glass. Enjoy!
