Tim Burke – Supplements, Performance & Training

Tim Burke not only trains like a World Long Drive champion, he recovers like one too! In the following article Tim answer questions on supplements, training and recovery.

Q: Do you think proper supplementation with the right products gives you an advantage over competitors?

A: Yes. In this sport recovery is so important, because you are taking it to the extreme. Performance Inspired has amazing supplements to help my body recover such as their protein, creatine, and BCCA’s. To be the best you need to treat your body and fuel it to be the best. Performance Inspired gives me all the key supplements my body needs on a regular basis.

Q: What is your key body parts you worked on for long drive that help with both strength and speed?

A: Hips; explosive hips help accelerate through the golf ball to maximize distance. The body works together through a chain reaction. Everything is important from your legs, core, and upper body as long as you are not losing range of motion. The core I would say is the most important overall because it has to be able to support the speed and strength.

Q: What is your training regimen?

A: This is a quote from Tim’s trainer, Trevor Anderson: “The foundations of Tim’s daily training goals are based on constantly improving and maintaining three important elements – STABILITY, MOBILITY, AND COORDINATION….in that order. Stability is the most important, because to manage Tim’s speed and power, he must have a great connection to the ground. Mobility is one of Tim’s most valuable assets, allowing him to utilize his liquid smooth range of motion to create incredible speed. And finally, his gifted coordination and ability to manage these powerfully moving parts through a proper sequence is amazing to experience.

I am personally responsible for making sure that we continue to reinforce these elements through our physical conditioning, so that we continue beyond just developing the physical body, and develop the proper physical instincts that stand strong in competition on the biggest stages. To achieve this, we train six days per week, keeping in mind, that swinging the club (at over 150mph) a few hundred times throughout practice, is indeed, a full workout. We have dynamic foundational lift days twice a week (Monday and Thursday), functional rotation days twice a week (Tuesday and Friday, an athletic regeneration day (Wednesday), and an active rest day (Saturday).”

Q: Do you feel like it’s harder to recover each year?

A: Fortunately, I haven’t seen any change in my recovery from year to year. Performance Inspired keeps my strong and fuels my body with what I need to continue to train to the extreme.
