It’s a little tough for me to narrow down my “favorite” products from Performance Inspired (PI); I use almost every one. In diet and nutrition, I am a big advocate of getting as much “good stuff” into your body as possible from a wide variety of sources, so I use everything from the multivitamin to whey protein and everything in between.
With that said, here are some of my “PI favorites” and what I recommend to other athletes.
- Whey Protein
In my opinion, this is where every fitness enthusiast should start. Whey protein is proven to improve strength and aid in recovery when used in combination with a resistance training program. Whey protein also can serve as a great meal replacement or substitute and combines nicely with fruit, yogurt, and other items in a smoothie.
The advantage of PI Whey is its incredible taste. Not all whey proteins are created equal. PI uses the best ingredients and has the best taste. Don’t believe me? Try this: 8 oz almond milk, 1 scoop whey protein (chocolate or vanilla) , 1 banana, 1 tbsp peanut butter, and ice. You will thank me later!
2) Creatine Monohydrate
This is the most important supplement you aren’t using. For some reason, creatine monohydrate is frequently overlooked, despite having an abundance of research and data behind it. Simply stated, creatine will make you stronger over time, as it enables you to perform more repetitions at a near maximal load. Over time, you will perform more reps, accumulate more volume, and get stronger. If you aren’t using creatine, you should start.
3) Pre-Workout
PI’s Pre-Workout formula is the best I’ve ever used—period. It has the perfect amount of caffeine, beta alanine, and creatine, all stuff that’s proven to work—and that’s important.
There are a ton of supplements with different ingredients available that have little to no data behind them. However, the three listed above have tons of research and data supporting them. They will absolutely enhance your performance and aid in your training session. This is the number one PI product I recommend to people, as I think PI has a formula head and shoulders above the rest.
4) Turmeric and Curcumin
Any athlete’s biggest battle in recovery is fighting inflammation. Inflammation is a natural part of the recovery process, but excess inflammation will cripple proper recovery time and strength gains. Turmeric has long been used in fighting inflammation and adding it to your supplementation can have powerful effects.
5) BCAA Formula
Here is another supplement that is proven to bring results and has been studied for years. During exercise, Brand Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) can aid in performance and energy output. BCAAs are the building blocks of proteins and putting them directly into your system can have powerful benefits. Rather than reaching for a sugary sports drink, use a formula that actually enhances performance.
These five products are a powerful stack that will enable you to perform at higher outputs for longer periods of time. That’s the goal of supplementation. It is essentially “biohacking” your system so you can perform at a higher level. Start with these products, and you’ll be on your way to a stronger, healthier lifestyle.
