Why did we start Performance Inspired Nutrition?
At Performance Inspired Nutrition, our mission has always been simple: inspire people to live healthier, more active lives with natural nutritional support they can trust — while giving back to the community along the way.
When we looked at the supplement industry, we saw too many products filled with hype, confusing claims, and questionable ingredients. We knew there had to be a better way. That’s why we created PI: a brand focused on clean, high-performance nutrition made with meaningful ingredients, honest formulas, and real value.
Every product we make reflects our commitment to quality, transparency, and doing things the right way. We’re proud to create supplements for everyone — from everyday individuals working toward their goals to elite athletes pushing their limits.
At the end of the day, the name Performance Inspired is more than just a brand name. It represents our belief that with the right support, anyone can feel inspired to perform at their best.
With this shared mission, PI was co-founded by Tom Dowd and Mark Wahlberg. Together, they recognized a gap in the market for clean, high-performance, active-lifestyle nutrition offered at a great value. They believed consumers deserved products made with meaningful ingredients, honest formulas, and transparency they could trust.
Early on, Draymond Green joined PI as an investor after recognizing the same need for better sports nutrition products for himself and fellow athletes.
PI also welcomed Marcus Luttrell as one of its early investors and supporters. Marcus received both the Navy Cross and Purple Heart for his actions during Operation Red Wings in 2005. He later authored the book Lone Survivor, which was adapted into the film Lone Survivor starring Mark Wahlberg as Marcus.

Our Owners
After starting his career in the supermarket business, Tom Dowd made the leap to the health market when he became a district manager for GNC. For the next 25 years, Tom worked his way up the ranks to Executive Vice President, General Manager, and Chief Merchandising Office and dedicated himself to learning everything there was to know about nutrition supplements.
Marcus Luttrell is the definition of an American hero. He joined the United States Navy in 1999 and trained with Class 226 in Coronado, California. He graduated in 2001 and was made a team medic. By the end of his eight-year tenure in the Navy, he was a Hospital Corpsman First Class.
Growing up in Saginaw, Michigan, Draymond Green started playing basketball in his school gym, but he always had big dreams. In college, he helped the Michigan State Spartans earn two Final Four appearances and a Big Ten Championship, while racking up huge honors, including the Big Ten Conference Sixth Man of the Year, NCAA All-American, and NABC National Player of the Year.
