New Year, New You

The new year is almost upon us! Traditionally about now, we begin to make resolutions. We spend some time pondering the good and bad of the past year, and then we make decisions about how we want to spend this next year. We ask ourselves what we want to change about ourselves.

Most of the time, people start the year off wanting to make a change related to their bodies, whether it’s losing excess weight, gaining muscle, eating better, or exercising more frequently. In fact, according to one study that asked about resolutions for 2021, of the 27% of respondents, “the most common commitments people made . . . were exercising more (46% said this was one of their resolutions), improving their diet (45%), losing weight (44%) and saving money (41%).”

People want to make changes, but changes are often really difficult to implement and stick with. They take dedication; they take commitment. That’s why, this coming year, we want to help you make the changes you desire. Below are some valuable suggestions along with some great PI products you can use to attain your goals.

So we invite you to begin the new year with a hopeful attitude, some determination, and the desire to accomplish your goals.

  1. Change must start with a good attitude and mindset.

What most people strive for isn’t a temporary change but a lifestyle change. In order to truly make a change, we must work toward it every day. To that end, grab an accountability buddy. Talk about your goals, whatever they may be. Help each other stick to these goals. Check in with each other every day. Give supportive suggestions. You’ll find that this person’s support will go a long way toward achieving success.

  1. Set realistic goals.

Goals are much easier to reach if you set realistic ones. For instance, don’t tell yourself you have to lose 20 pounds by Feb 1. You will likely be very disappointed when that doesn’t happen. Set a goal of losing 5 pounds a month. Likewise, if you want to begin going to the gym, don’t set a goal telling yourself you will go every day. Begin by going 4 times a week. When goals are realistic and attainable, you’ll be more likely to stick with them.

  1. Break down your goal to fit the year.

Keeping your end goal in mind, determine what you need to do each month to reach that goal. For instance, if you want to lose 50 pounds by the end of 2022, figure out how much you need to lose each month. If you eat junk food every day and want to give that up, but have been struggling to do it, start by replacing one unhealthy snack a day with something healthy. Fruits and veggies are awesome snacks. In addition, PI has delicious protein bars, protein cookies, and a huge selection of whey products to add to your drinks. These can all be used to replace a snack or meal so that you know you’re treating your body well.

  1. Cut out sugary drinks.

Sodas and energy drinks have way too much sugar and nothing of benefit. A 12oz can of Coke has 39 grams of sugar. A 20oz. bottle of Gatorade has 36 grams of sugar. That’s about 10 teaspoons. Imagine putting 10 teaspoons of sugar in your drink! PI has the perfect replacement for these bad-for-you drinks. Our Go-Time Protein & Energy Water is perfect when you need a pick-me-up. It has 12 grams of pure isolate whey protein, 110 mg of natural coffeeberry and just 80 calories and 4 grams of sugar because it’s flavored with Stevia and natural juices. If you don’t want the caffeine, try our Ready2Go Protein Water. This water, flavored with Stevia and natural juices, has 16 grams of whey protein isolate, just 10 grams of carbs per serving, 110 mg of potassium, and it’s low in sodium. You will feel awesome when you replace your junky drink with one of our protein waters.

  1. Understand that perfection isn’t necessary.

Making changes isn’t always easy. We get tired and don’t exercise. We indulge in that piece of cake. That’s normal, and some setbacks are to be expected. The important thing is to not allow the setbacks to define you. And even more importantly, don’t let them derail you. Pick yourself up and begin anew the next day. You will soon realize that your setbacks become fewer and further between.

Make 2022 the year you created a better and healthier you. And let us at Performance Inspired help you along the way!

Happy New Year!
